What We Treat

Conditions That We Treat

ILLNESSES  –  when your child is sick, you don’t want to wait to be seen.  And you don’t want to sit for hours in an emergency room, or walk-in, to receive rushed, impersonal care that likely won’t be from an expert in child health.   Children can get sick quickly, so always call us with any illness concerns you may have.

We pride ourselves on always having same-day appointments, and will stay late in the office if necessary to see our sick patients.  Our board-certified Pediatricians have hospital privileges and can admit directly to the hospital pediatric floor in severe illness situations.   This allows for more advanced medical evaluation and treatments that we will manage the entire time.  This goes for respiratory and skin infections, concerning rashes, sudden abdominal pain, dehydration or headaches and everything in between.

INJURIES  –  injuries are one of the leading health burdens of children, and their management is not the same as adults.  Just like with illnesses, we will see orthopedic injuries in the office the same day, or next if the injury happens after-hours.  As with all of our patients’ appointments at other offices or facilities, if an Emergency Room visit is necessary, please call us when you are there, or immediately after you are discharged, so we can schedule a follow-up visit.

ASTHMA and ALLERGIES  –  this is one of the ‘bread and butter’ categories of our office.  We have many years of experience with asthma and allergy diagnosis and management.  These are one of the most common chronic conditions of childhood, and we take great pleasure in keeping them under control so our kids can live their best life.

WELL VISITS, SCHOOL and SPORTS PHYSICALS  –  we require that all of our patients have a yearly well visit with us.  The best way to keep up-to-date for school and sports is keeping this annual physical.   These are covered by insurance by law at no extra cost to you, and will ensure all records and vaccines are completed for school and sport participation.   Physicals done at school by school health providers are not the same as comprehensive annual well visits at our office, and they usually do not include the required vaccines.  An annual well visit with us should cover all of the school and sports requirements, but If you have had an annual well visit at our office and need an updated physical for sports, please call us and we will arrange to fill out the necessary paperwork.

NEURO / BEHAVIORAL / MENTAL HEALTH – Broome Pediatrics has special expertise and experience with pediatric Neuro, Behavioral and Mental Health (NBMH).  We have experience in evaluating, diagnosing and treating complex NBMH diagnoses such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, ODD, PANDAS/PANS, RFID, FND and Tourette’s.   We also work closely with community and school psychologists, and other specialists to assist us when necessary.

PANDAS, PANS and the broader category of Neuroimmune Psychiatric Disorders (NIPD) are a newly identified category of complex immune-related mental health disorders.  The evaluation and treatment of NIPD-family diseases is constantly changing and we work hard to always be up to date with new developments aimed at helping patients suffering from NIPD.   We have been treating PANS for over 15 years and are a proud member of the PANDAS Physician Network.

These are just a few in-depth descriptions of some of the conditions and disorders we help manage.  Other complex diagnoses we have experience in are:

  • Extreme Prematurity
  • POTS
  • Inborn Errors of Metabolism
  • Congenital Heart Defects
  • Agenesis of Corpus Callosum
  • Parader-Willi Syndrome
  • Spina bifida
  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Short Gut Syndrome
  • Biliary Atresia
  • Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis
  • Muscular Dystrophy
  • Aicardi Syndrome

Open six days a week, 24 hour call coverage, same-day appointments, and extended evening hours- we’re always here to help and provide the pediatric care needed for your child from infancy to young adulthood.

We’re also capable and ready to take on young patients with complex medical issues and special needs that need coordination with specialist referrals or school supports.

What Our Patients Have to Say

Best in Broome- Never had a bad experience here with all 3 of my girls…the oldest turning 21 this year! if you have a sick child and call they will see you, they come in on the weekend to avoid you going to the ER and having them poke and prod your child for hours. I have high praise for this group of doctors and Dr. Miller is one of the originals….
